About Loes van Delft

Loes van Delft (born 1991) is a Dutch artist whose colourful visual world combines playful characters with an interest in painting and popular imagery. She graduated from SintLucas in 2012. During an internship at Amsterdam’s Supperclub she developed work for an environment where art and performance met, and held her first solo exhibition there in 2011. Her recurring character Pjipje gives a recognisable identity to her imagery: cartoon-like forms, expressive eyes and bright colours create a world that can appear both innocent and mischievous. Her work includes paintings and sculptural objects, with the specific materials varying from project to project. In 2012 she received the Best Global Artist Award at the Amsterdam International Art Fair. Her biography also records exhibitions beyond the Netherlands, including Barcelona and Taiwan. The artist’s own website presents her background and projects; the individual record on this page identifies the documented title, date and material of NIKI.
