About Lucy Glendinning

Lucy Glendinning is a British sculptor based in Somerset. She studied fine-art sculpture at the University of the West of England in Bristol. After graduating she worked for Elisabeth Frink in a bronze foundry, gaining experience in mould-making and wax casting. The human figure is central to her practice, but serves as a starting point for psychological and philosophical questions rather than simply likeness. Her profile at the Royal Society of Sculptors describes an interest in medical information, human experience and possible futures. Careful handling of materials gives these ideas a physical form and creates a relationship between the figure, the viewer and the surrounding space. Her work has been exhibited in Europe, the United States and Asia, including at the Ashmolean Museum, the Royal Academy and the Grand Rapids Art Museum. Her biography also records public sculpture commissions in the UK. The materials of In her dreams are listed separately in this work’s record.
